Is it legal to force someone not to cook in a rental agreement?

I wanted to know the legalities of this. I mean, when I signed it he was elaborating on things that made the house smell like crap, but now after a month and a half he's complaining about me using the stove, microwave, toaster etc... I mean I'm on the other side of the duplex even. Legally can he do this?
