Why Telecommunication firms dislike the Bush wire-tapping programe ?

They want to focus on their main business, which is telephone service and charging people 10 cents for a text message that costs literally nothing to send. And did I mention scamming people with "inside wiring insurance" and the like. This wiretapping crap is a distraction for them and just makes them look bad in the media. Why would any business owner want to get in the middle of some ridiculous political controversy that generates no profit? They don't like this nonsense any more than you or I do.
