Catcher in the Rye thesis?

so i'm suppose to write an essay on this thesis: Holden constantly speaks about the world being filled with “phonies”, but he is not entirely immune from this “phoniness” himself. my teacher told me to focus on the symbols, dialogue and incidents that the author uses. for dialogue i have holden talking to Ernest 's mom. for symbols i have his red hat and for incidents i have claiming to being a wonderful liar and claiming to being a pacifist. does anyone else have something better, because these SUCK
